Geovani is a great example of the American Dream and how those new to America can become successful and share that experience with others. He came to the U.S. from El Salvador in 1994, started as a laborer with A Yard & A Half in 1996, and today he serves as Co-CEO of the newly formed employee-owned cooperative. Along the way, Geovani was a first line supervisor, an operations manager and a construction project manager.
Geovani is a hands-on Co-CEO, interacting both with customers and with team members “in the field.” He works with our design partners, provides support on site assessment, gives technical advice on construction methods and materials and ensures continuity from initial design concepts through completed installation. He often calls on his extensive knowledge in pond building, tree climbing, rock wall building and lighting.
Geovani is certified by ICPI as a concrete paver installer, and certified by NCMA as a segmental retaining wall installer. His love for the craft, the business and the team is evident in everything he does. He also sits on the board of the nationwide Ecological Landscape Alliance, providing a bridge between sustainable design and environmentally-sensitive installation.
Geovani is married with four children and two dogs and loves the opportunity he has to work with fellow immigrants and new Americans pursuing their dreams.
“My favorite part of the job is interacting with team – both at work and after hours watching soccer games. Our friendships are what make working at A Yard & A Half so enjoyable.” — Geovani
