Our Process
Every project is about a relationship. Our process includes multiple touchpoints to ensure that your project goes smoothly from planning through execution and after-core.
The Right Tools to Get You Started
- 1Intake
Before we set foot on your property, we will have a conversation to establish whether we would be a good fit for your needs. Can we produce your dream landscape within the budget and timeframe you have in mind?
- 2Site Visit
You told us on the phone that you had a “steep” backyard. But what does that really look like? By walking the property with you, our project manager will get to know you and your site better, so that we can do the best job for you. You will also have the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have about the installation process, our guarantees, or follow-up maintenance.
- 3Proposal
We provide a detailed proposal for every project, describing the scope of work and breaking down the cost, item by item. Our contracts are generally fixed-cost — if the scope of work stays the same, so does the final price!
- 4Pre-Project
Between signed contract and groundbreaking, we’re very busy. We call DIGSAFE to mark any underground utilities on your property. We also order plants and materials from a variety of vendors, and coordinate timing for irrigation, electrical work, and deliveries. Because there are many moving parts in a landscape installation, we ask you to keep us informed of any changes to your timeline.
- 5Installation
“It gets worse before it gets better.” The change in your property can be dramatic when you return from work the first day of a project. Fear not! At the start of each job, you will meet the crew assigned to your project. They will be on site every day, and your crew leader will be glad to answer your questions and keep you posted on progress. They also clean up carefully at the end of each day, to minimize disruption to your family’s routine.
- 6Post Project
At the close of the job, your crew leader will conduct a final walkthrough to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with the work, and to answer any questions you may have about watering or aftercare. Your project manager can provide you with proposals for A Yard & A Half to perform any maintenance services needed to care for your new landscape, from mowing and pruning to paver sealing and pond winterization.
